A major in history is useful to students interested in a career in law, education, writing, the ministry, business, government, library and archival work, or historic restoration. The study of history is also of value to those who want to receive a liberal-arts background to pursue other career options. A wide variety of courses in American, European and world history will allow each student to shape his or her intellectual development and to enhance various critical and creative thinking skills necessary for personal and professional success.
Teacher certification is available in history. Students wishing to pursue teacher certification should complete the history major as well as the major in secondary education. ProgramsMajorMinor
