The General Physics Major is intended for students with an interest in physics or astronomy but who do not plan to become professional physicists. The General Physics Major is an appropriate physics major for students who wish to become high school physics teachers. Students planning to become certified to teach physics in public secondary schools must complete both a physics major and a Secondary Education Major (6-12 or P-12), B.S.
Note: Students may not earn multiple majors within the Physics program, or both a major and minor in Physics.

Physics/Astronomy Electives (22 hours):
22 additional hours of physics and astronomy courses, at least 15 hours at the 300-level or above. PHY 111 or PHY 112 do not count toward this major.
