Political Science Requirements for the B.A. and B.S. Degrees
Political Science students may pursue either the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree. It is strongly recommended that majors enroll in the methods course (GOV 393 I ) in their sophomore or junior year and that MAT 111 be taken before enrolling in GOV 393 I . Note that government majors pursuing the Bachelor of Arts degree must complete the foreignlanguage requirement for that degree. Specific departmental requirements for government majors and minors in addition to the general-education requirements are listed below.
Students wishing to pursue teacher certification should complete the major in Political Science (B.A. or B.S.) as well as a major in secondary education . All majors must complete the following courses: 9 hours
One course in American politics chosen from: 3 hours
One course in comparative politics chosen from: 3 hours
One course in international relations chosen from: 3 hours
One course in political philosophy chosen from: 3 hours
Elective Courses: 18 hours
Students must complete a minimum of 18 hours of GOV courses Additional Bachelor of Science Requirements: 6 - 7 hours
Government majors pursuing the Bachelor of Science degree must successfully complete a minimum of six courses from the Registrar’s list of approved B.S. core courses. One of these courses must be Elementary Statistics (MAT 111 ). |
