Required History Courses (36 hours):

• HIS 120 - Foundations of Modern America (Foundations F4a) 3-0-3
• HIS 154 - World History to 1550 (Foundations F3b & F4a) 3-0-3
• HIS 155 - World History Since 1550 (Foundations F3b & F4a) 3-0-3
• HIS 491 I - Historiography 3-0-3

•  Plus an additional 24 hours of history electives, including 6 hours of upper-division (300-400 level) courses in United States history, and 6 hours of upper-division courses in European and/or world history. At least one elective History course at the 300-400 level must concentrate on a period before AD 1500, and at least one elective History course at the 300-400 level must concentrate on non-western History.  No more than two History courses at the 200-level may be applied toward the major.

Concentration: History Plus the Public

• HIS 382 - Public History 3-0-3

• Note: This course will also count toward the 24 hours of History electives.

• HIS 402 - History + X Capstone 0-0-1

• Complete an internship at a museum or public history site*;

• HIS 496 - Academic Internship 3 to 12 hours

• Or

• ART 496 - Academic Internship 3 to 12 hours

• * may be taken as part of the requirements for the Major in History (HIS 496 ) or the Minor in Art (ART 496 ).

Required Minor:

Complete either an Art Minor  or a Public Relations Minor  or a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Minor
