The Mathematics and Computer Science department offers innovative and comprehensive programs designed to prepare students for a rapidly evolving technological world. Majors and minors in the mathematical and computer sciences develop analytical skills, knowledge, and experiences that enable them to excel in a wide variety of careers requiring problem solving, logical reasoning, and applications of current technology. The Computer Science major focuses on software development, algorithms, computational theory, and systems design. The interdisciplinary Data Science major emphasizes statistical analysis, machine learning, and big data technologies. The Mathematics major provides a solid foundation in theoretical and applied mathematics, preparing students for diverse careers in academia, law, medicine, industry, and beyond. The Mathematics Education concentration or Computer Science major may be coupled with a Secondary Education major, leading to Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification at the secondary education level for math education and P-12 education for computer science. All programs lead to the Bachelor of Science degree.

Minors offered by the department include a mathematics minor and a computer science minor.

Note: Students may not earn a major and minor in the same discipline (Mathematics, Computer Science) within the department, nor multiple majors within the Mathematics concentrations. Students may combine any two majors between Computer Science, Data Science, and Mathematics, but may not earn a major simultaneously in all three programs.
